The Curated Collection: Dance on Film

About

This sumptuous display is all about DANCE ON FILM.
Featuring a hand-painted facade and papier-mâché on pointe legs, the visual references pay homage to two of the greatest dance films of all time: Suspiria (the OG 1977 version) and The Red Shoes (1948).
Both films involve a heady mix of horror themes: ballet, occult/magic/witchcraft and supernatural forces. Both films were also filmed in vivid technicolor (Suspiria being one of the last films to do so) on sets constructed specifically for the film. Suspiria's design in particular is, truly beautiful beyond words.
