The Curated Collection: The Wizard of Oz

About

Follow the yellow brick road, through the tornado tunnel to our first display since the COVID-19 closure of the AFTRS Library. It's an ode to OZ, an escape from reality, a visual fantasy, and a reflection on our collective psychic state during the pandemic.

Re-creating the druggy dream scene in which Dorothy (under the spell of the Wicked Witch of the West) falls asleep in the poppy fields, the display also features an Emerald City made of holographic green and silver presents and of course, a road of yellow bricks.

Meanwhile, the tunnel entrance to the library has been re-imagined as a tornado in which the signs of our times whirl about: protest placards, sourdough recipes, dollar bills, PPE, puzzles et al.
