Introduction

Advanced Search allows you to search numerous terms using multiple search types.

Advanced Search

To start a search simply type the term you would like to search for or select from the predictive entry box below.

Next, use the drop down menu to select what type of search you would like to perform.

If you would like to add other terms, add addition terms into the remaining search boxes and chose ‘AND’ or ‘OR’ or ‘NOT’.

Advanced Search - Limiters

To ensure you get the best results possible, it is important to make sure what search limiters are turned on and off, especially when searching for Articles.

  1. Ensure that the 'Also search within the full text of articles' is selected (highlighted in the red box), as this will make the search look for your search terms within any full text articles.
  2. Make certain that all the location limiters are turned off (highlighted in purple), as these limiters restrict the search to within the AFTRS Library physical collection.
  3. Check and make sure the 'Full text' box is ticked (highlighted in blue), as this will only give you results where there is either a PDF, eBook or web page available.
  4. Finally, make sure the 'Peer reviewed Articles' box is ticked (highlighted in green), as this will only give the most authoritative results.

Alternatively, you may decide to proceed with your search with only some or all of these turned off.

Once you are happy with your limiters, click Search.
