Student Support

AFTRS Peer Support Program

This year we are running a Peer Support program for 2020 with a focus on informal, social gatherings and small group support. Entering tertiary education can be difficult no matter where you’re starting from. At AFTRS, we have students with a vast range of life experiences.

For some, this is your first time with tertiary study – and you may even be the first in your family to study at this level.

You might be navigating life in a new city, juggling responsibilities as a carer or parent?

Perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of working in a technical film production environment?

Or are you worried about finding a balance between studying, working, family and social life?

Maybe you’re in need of learning supports and adjustments and want to find other students who’ve been there before you?

This is an opportunity to build connections (both friendly and professional) between new and currently studying students within the BA program. After a tumultuous 2020, let’s support each other through another massive year and have some fun in the process

How To Get Involved?

If you’d like to be involved in our 2021 Peer Support program, register your interest via the surveys below.

Even if you don’t want to sign up for the peer support program right now, we encourage you to get in touch with the Student Centre if you encounter any problems as you settle in.

If you have questions, suggestions or feedback, feel free to contact Rachel Roberts (Student Counsellor) via Teams or at

Once confirmed, we’ll send you details via email of our first gathering, which is yet to be confirmed.
